Convert NAB bank statements to Excel or CSV
The NAB documents our reader is verified against are Merchant Statements, which double as tax invoices: a fee settlement summary and a card summary head the document. Download the PDF statement, upload it here, and get every transaction as a spreadsheet that is checked against the statement's own opening and closing balances before you download it.
The NAB statement layout
These notes come from real NAB statements our reader has been tested against, not from a template guess:
- A Merchant Number heads the statement, followed by a Fee Settlement Summary and a Card Summary with totals per card type.
- The rows are fee and settlement lines rather than ordinary deposit account transactions.
- Totals are printed per card scheme, which gives the conversion several independent figures to check against.
How to download a PDF statement from NAB
- Log in to NAB Internet Banking at nab.com.au — statements for up to the last seven years are held there (the NAB app holds the last two years).
- Open the statements for the account and choose the statement you need.
- Download the PDF. Mind NAB's own warning: the downloadable summary of recent transactions is a report, not a statement — pick the statement document itself.
Once you have the PDF, drop it into the converter — you can check the result before you pay for anything, and the first 10 pages each month are free.
What to check after converting
- The result is marked Reconciled — the rows reproduce the closing balance exactly. If a difference is shown instead, our guide to why a statement does not balance walks through the usual causes.
- Merchant statements check against the Fee Settlement Summary and Card Summary totals, not a bank balance — compare those totals first.
- Keep the tax invoice pages with the converted file; the statement is a tax document as well as a transaction record.
- Spot-check two or three rows against the PDF, especially around page breaks. Our guide on how to check a conversion shows a two-minute routine.
