FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which banks and statements are supported?

Any statement whose PDF has a text layer and a dated transaction table: checking, savings and credit card statements from US banks and credit unions, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, U.S. Bank, PNC, Truist and thousands of smaller institutions. The converter reads the printed table rather than a fixed per-bank template. See the banks page for notes on major banks.

How accurate is the conversion?

Accuracy is verified per statement, not promised as a global percentage: the rows we extract must reproduce the statement's own closing balance from its opening balance. When they do, the result is marked Reconciled. When they do not, you see the difference and the suspect rows before downloading, and you can fix them in the built-in editor.

My statement does not reconcile. What should I do?

Look at the flagged rows first: an amount equal to the difference (a likely duplicate or an extra read), two identical rows, or the row where the running balance chain breaks. Edit or remove the row on the result page and save — the check re-runs immediately. Common causes are a page the PDF prints twice, or a fee listed both in a summary and in the transaction table.

Can I convert several statements at once?

Yes. Free accounts convert batches of up to 5 statements; Starter and Pro up to 20. Each statement is checked and listed separately, and paid plans can also download the batch as one merged CSV.

My PDF asks for a password. Is that supported?

Yes — type the password into the field under the upload box. It is used only to open the file for conversion, is never stored, and never appears in logs. If the password is wrong, you are told so and can retry; no pages are charged for a file that does not open.

Why did my scanned statement fail?

Scans and photos have no text layer to read. Download the original PDF statement from your bank's website instead: banks typically keep PDF statements available for up to 7 years, far beyond the few months of CSV downloads. The failed file does not use any of your page quota.

What formats can I download?

CSV and Excel (XLSX) on every plan, including Free. QBO (QuickBooks Web Connect), OFX and QIF are included with Starter and Pro. Every export contains all extracted transactions — free exports are never cut off mid-statement.

How long do you keep my files?

Original PDFs are processed in memory and not kept at all. Conversion results are deleted automatically 24 hours after conversion, and every result page has a Delete now button. Account and billing records are kept as described in the Privacy Policy.

Do you connect to my bank account?

No. StatementConverter never asks for bank credentials and does not connect to bank accounts. You upload the PDF statement file, and that is the only input.

How does billing work?

Subscriptions are billed monthly in USD through Paddle, our merchant of record. Pages are counted only for statements that convert successfully, reset on the first of each month, and do not roll over. Cancel from your dashboard at any time; the plan runs to the end of the paid period. See Pricing and the Cancellation & Refunds page for details.

I found a statement layout you read incorrectly. What can I do?

Email the details (bank, statement type, and what went wrong) to highsave@gmail.com. Layout reports directly improve the reader, and if a statement cannot be converted at all, its pages are not charged.
