Bank Statement Converter: PDF to Excel, CSV & QBO

Upload a PDF bank statement and download every transaction as a clean spreadsheet — verified against the statement's own balances before you download, so the numbers you import are the numbers on the statement.

What a conversion looks like

This is the actual result for our public sample statement (a The Bancorp checking statement). The row adds up exactly, and the converter shows its work:

Opening balance 369.08 + credits 0.00 − debits 369.08 = 0.00 vs statement closing 0.00 ✓ Reconciled

How it works

1. Upload your statement

Drop one PDF or a whole batch — a month of client statements at once. Password-protected files open with the password you provide.

2. Check the rows

Every transaction is listed with date, description, debit, credit and balance. The reconciliation card shows whether the rows add up; flagged rows can be edited in place and the check re-runs instantly.

3. Download your file

CSV and Excel on every plan. QBO, OFX and QIF import straight into QuickBooks, Quicken and Xero on Starter and Pro.

Why bookkeepers convert with a balance check

A converted statement that does not add up is worse than no conversion at all — the error surfaces weeks later, inside the accounting file. StatementConverter treats the statement's own printed balances as the source of truth: opening balance plus every credit, minus every debit, must equal the closing balance. When it does not, you see the exact difference and the rows most likely to explain it (a duplicate, a misread amount, a row whose size matches the difference) before anything reaches QuickBooks or Xero. Frequently asked questions

How does the balance check work?

We read the opening and closing balances printed on the statement itself, then verify that opening balance + credits − debits equals the closing balance. You see the full equation before you download. If the rows are off, the difference is shown and the rows most likely to explain it are flagged for editing.

Which banks are supported?

The converter reads the transaction table of a statement rather than relying on one fixed layout per bank, so statements from Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, U.S. Bank and most other US banks convert the same way. If a statement cannot be read, you get a specific reason — never a silent failure.

Do I need an account to try it?

No. Convert your first statement and preview every row without signing up. Downloading the CSV or Excel file asks for a free account; the conversion is attached to your account automatically.

What happens to my files?

Original PDFs are processed in memory and are not kept. Converted results are stored for 24 hours so you can review and download them, then deleted automatically. A Delete now button removes everything immediately.

Can it read password-protected statements?

Yes. Enter the PDF password in the field under the upload box. The password is used only to open the file during conversion and is never stored or logged.

What about scanned statements?

The converter needs the text layer of an original PDF statement. If your PDF is a scan or photo, we tell you right away and suggest downloading the original PDF from your bank instead — banks keep PDF statements available for years, long after the CSV download window closes.
